NurseIO requires all Healthcare Professionals (HCPs) to maintain up-to-date certifications and licenses to ensure compliance with regulations and provide quality patient care. Expired credentials are not accepted, and it is the HCP’s responsibility to stay current with all necessary documentation.
Policy on Expired Certifications & Licenses
No Expired Documents Accepted: NurseIO does not accept expired certifications, licenses, or medical records. All documents must be valid at the time of submission.
Mandatory Verification: Each license and certification must be verified through official sources before being approved.
Consequences of Expired Documents:
If an HCP has an expired certification or license, their account will be moved to inactive status until updated documentation is provided.
If an HCP attempts to accept shifts with expired credentials, access to shifts will be restricted until the documents are renewed.
Nursys License Management:
Licenses flagged as Probation, Suspended, Expired, Revoked, or Encumbered in Nursys will automatically be marked inactive.
If an HCP has an expired license in one state but an active license in another state where NurseIO operates, they may update their region and ensure compliance with new regional requirements.
Required Certifications & Verification Process
HCPs must maintain valid documentation for the following:
Licenses & Certifications
Nursing Licenses (RN, LPN, CNA, etc.): Must be verified through Nursys e-Verify or state-specific registries.
BLS / CPR / ACLS: Certifications must be hands-on training (online-only certificates are not accepted). Recommended providers:
American Heart Association (AHA)
Heart Savers
Fingerprint Clearance Cards: Front and back copies must be uploaded.
TB Test: is only 2-step.
TB skin and blood tests expire after 1 year and must be renewed accordingly.
Background Checks & Drug Screening: All HCPs must undergo verification through OIG, SAM, and NSOPW databases.
Steps to Update Expired Certifications & Licenses
Log in to NurseIO.
Navigate to "My Profile" → "Certs & Docs".
Select the expired document.
Upload a clear, valid replacement.
Ensure the document is marked as "active" in the system.
Click "Update Info" to save changes.
Note: If any required documents are missing or expired, you will not be able to pick up shifts until they are updated.
FAQs
What happens if a certification expires while the HCP is actively working shifts?
If a certification expires before a shift starts, the HCP will be unable to work that shift until the document is updated.
Can an HCP work if their license is still valid in another state?
Yes, but the HCP must update their NurseIO profile to reflect their active license in a state where NurseIO operates.
