What Is This Feature?
ShiftWorx now automatically cancels unconfirmed shifts 2 hours before the scheduled start time. This feature is designed to help facilities avoid confusion, maintain staffing accuracy, and ensure HCPs only see confirmed, active shifts in their app.
Why It Matters
Eliminates uncertainty around unconfirmed shifts
Prevents no-show issues caused by a lack of confirmation
Ensures only confirmed shifts are visible to healthcare professionals (HCPs)
Improves shift coverage reliability by prompting timely confirmation
When Does It Happen?
If a posted shift has not been confirmed by the facility and reaches the 2-hour pre-start window, ShiftWorx will:
Automatically cancel the shift on behalf of the facility
Mark the shift with a “Canceled” status in your dashboard
Remove the shift from the HCP's schedule to avoid confusion
What Facility Managers Will See
The shift will be labeled as “Canceled by System” in your dashboard
You will not be able to reassign the shift unless reposted
An audit trail will show the auto-cancellation timestamp
Impact on HCPs
If a shift is not confirmed in time, it disappears from the HCP’s app
HCPs will not be notified unless the shift was previously confirmed and then canceled
They will not arrive for shifts that appear missing or canceled
Best Practice: Confirm Early
To avoid losing coverage:
Confirm all shifts as soon as they’re posted or assigned
Use the “Confirm” button in the ShiftWorx dashboard to lock them in
Monitor your open shifts regularly to ensure nothing slips through
⚠️ Remember:
Auto-cancel only applies to unconfirmed shifts
Once canceled, the shift must be reposted manually if still needed
Confirmation must happen more than 2 hours before the shift starts to avoid cancellation
